I thought Republicans were opposed to government handouts?
BROOKLAND, Ark. (KAIT) - Farmers from across the state are asking for help before it’s too late.
Hundreds of farmers gathered in Brookland to speak with representatives of Arkansas leaders to share with them their urgent plight: the difficulties they face in farming today.
Many farmers spoke out at the meeting.
Their message was straightforward: We need help, and we need it now.
[bold] “Mr. Trump, you looked at me and said, ‘I love you,’” Woodruff County farmer Chris King said. “Mr. Trump, I need to see the fruit of your love.” [/bold]
...
Brown said one issue that rounds out all the problems farmers are facing: tariffs.
“I think the tariffs are the ice cream on the cake of a perfect storm,” said Brown. “When you try and sell a product, okay, U.S. soybeans leaving New Orleans without the tariff to China are cheaper than Brazilian soybeans, at the current market. But when you put the tariff on top of them, Brazilian beans are cheaper.”
What can be done to help farmers?
[bold] “In the short term, they have no choice but to mail us a check,” [/bold] said Brown. “I don’t know a farmer that likes the check program. Nobody wants to take the taxpayer dollars, but nobody wants to go broke, nobody wants to lose everything. Long term, we have to have options, markets, and places to sell our product.”

Not the most popular, most likable, most centered candidate. Not one who checks the most boxes. Not one who is hard left but plays sports and works on cars in their garage. And there is no such thing as the blue wall anymore, they’re just swing states.
Doesn’t have to be a white male as we’ve seen them losing to other white men consecutive times in a row. We need someone who can win the demographics that were always safe in swing states. That is bringing young apolitical people back to the party. Brining black and Latino men back to the party. That is appealing to non educated Gen X white women. Bring back constituencies that always favored the democratic candidate in national elections. The “independent” voter— center right mid-upper middle class white men who swing from Republican to Democrat in elections—Kamala won them.

Located about a mile east of downtown Palm Springs, the “boutique motel boasts 40 rooms, many of which are newly renovated, as well as an expansive pool and a so-called ‘play maze’ for its adult guests,” a Realtor.com story about the listing noted.
The property was recently a known retreat for gay men and is currently a popular clothing-optional stopover for swingers.

Critics raved about the chemistry between Michelle Pfeiffer and John Malkovich in the Oscar-winning film Dangerous Liaisons.
And now Malkovich has admitted for the first time that the on-screen passion between them spilled over into real life.
The 71-year-old, who played the amoral rich playboy the Vicomte de Valmont in the 1988 film, confirmed he had an affair with Pfeiffer – and that it had ended both their marriages.
Speaking on the Fashion Neurosis podcast, Malkovich said: 'It's not something I've ever really talked about. Put it this way, in the work I do, you make emotional bonds with people very quickly.
That's part of the work. 'For me, she was someone I valued greatly as a colleague, was great fun and moving and, with me, incredibly fair. And I certainly wasn't.
'I've learned over the course of my life that a great colleague is actually rarer than anything.
'And when that relationship becomes more than collegial or more than a friendship – even a profound friendship – then at least in my experience, and it might be my particular psychology or stupidity or ineptness or all of the above… you lose a great colleague.'
Pfeiffer filed for divorce from her husband Peter Horton in 1988, while Malkovich's marriage to actress Glenne Headly collapsed during filming.
A source who knew Headly told The Mail on Sunday: 'Glenne was no fool. She could see what was going on.
'The whole world was falling in love with Michelle Pfeiffer and so was her husband. She served him with divorce papers as soon as the movie wrapped.'
Dangerous Liaisons, based on the 18th-century French novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, has become one of the most critically acclaimed costume dramas of all time because of its depiction of lust, manipulation and betrayal in aristocratic society.
Glenn Close plays the villainous Marquise de Merteuil who bets the Vicomte de Valmont (Malkovich) that he cannot seduce the virtuous Madame de Tourvel, played by Pfeiffer.
The real-life affair caused scandalous headlines, with the director Stephen Frears later telling The New York Times: '[Malkovich's] marriage was breaking up and during the movie he was having an affair with Michelle Pfeiffer.
'Dangerous Liaisons is about betrayal and lies and relationships unravelling. It was one of those times where reality and art intersect. It was overwhelming for John. Even for a man who delights in bad behaviour, that was a difficult time.'
The movie won three Oscars for costumes, art direction and adapted screenplay and was nominated for Best Picture.
Pfeiffer married TV writer David E Kelley in 1993. The couple have two children and are considered to have one of the happiest marriages in Hollywood.
The actress, 67, has maintained a dignified silence about the affair. Her publicist was approached for comment. Malkovich has been with director Nicoletta Peyran since 1989.

With a new documentary and a Broadway revival in 2026, the cult classic is more boundary-pushing than ever.
It’s been 50 years since The Rocky Horror Show first did the Time Warp (again). While the mind flip of a musical remains searingly relevant in today’s cultural landscape, its journey from a 60-seat theatre in London to more cinema screens than could ever possibly be tallied hasn’t exactly been A to B to C. Now, for the first time, that journey has been preserved in the form of an endearingly personal documentary.
Titled 'Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror,' the 89-minute doc is directed by Linus O’Brien (son of Rocky Horror’s originating supernova Richard O'Brien), and features intimate archival recordings from Rocky Horror history, from its earliest whispers to its most raucous fan events. Interspersed are interviews with many of the stage show (and the Rocky Horror Picture Show) stars, including Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and of course, Richard O’Brien.

The Earl of Devon and his former Baywatch actress wife are to divorce, three years after she described the shock of seeing her “hippie, feminist husband” transform into a “patriarchal” aristocrat.
Allison Joy “AJ” Langer, married barrister Charles Courtenay in 2005 after meeting him in Las Vegas, where he was on a rugby tour.
They set up home in California but moved into Powderham Castle near Exeter when Courtenay’s father, the 18th Earl of Devon, died in 2015.
Langer, who appeared in the second series of Baywatch and also starred in the US drama My So-Called Life, became the Countess of Devon and found her move to Britain to be a culture shock.
“I may have underestimated the realities for myself. It was the same for my husband, who had been my hippie, feminist husband in California for 10 years,” she said.
“I was like, ‘where did my hippie, feminist husband go?’ And all of a sudden these patriarchal things start coming out of his mouth. I’m like, ‘who are you? Where’s my Charlie?’ So it’s a lot of recalibrating.”
The couple moved to Britain with their two children, Joscelyn, now aged 16, and Jack, 14. They announced their separation this week, saying in a statement: “After much care and consideration, Charles Courtenay, the Earl of Devon, and Countess of Devon, Allison Joy Courtenay, have made the decision to separate and to divorce.
“Charlie would like to express his gratitude for his partnership with AJ and all that they have created together as parents, friends and partners both in Los Angeles and at Powderham.”
Speaking on the podcast Celebrity Catch Up: Life After That Thing I Did in 2020, the Countess said she treated the relocation – on a friend’s advice – “like an anthropological study of the culture”.
Her father-in-law’s funeral was the first shock. “It was like The Godfather, it was extraordinary,” she recalled. “It was 800 people coming into the castle, and all lined up just to shake [the new Earl’s] hand.
“I’d learnt a lot over the 12 years that we’d been together, but I think I’d underestimated the step… here I was in the middle of a really intense, very, very deep-rooted patriarchy. And so it’s been really fascinating.”
The Countess treasured the family’s “amazing” time in California, adding that it was “great for Charlie as well, who grew up in this [castle] architecture, to have some time surfing”.
But she threw herself into her new role while focusing on getting the children settled in their new home.
“Acting really wasn’t on the table because we’re three hours out of London and my kids needed community and connection, and this was so much to take on that you couldn’t really do it halfway.
“And I’m the kind of person that takes whatever’s in front of me and does my best with it,” she said. The couple opened the castle’s grounds for rock and pop concerts, and allowed visitors to the main house to bring their dogs.
They also welcomed gay marriages. The 18th Earl caused a storm in 2008 when he refused a request to host a ceremony for two men, saying it was “objectionable” to his Christian religion. Devon County Council revoked Powderham’s licence for hosting ceremonies, losing the family up to £200,000 a year in revenue.
This was regarded as ironic by some observers, as the 9th Earl was gay. The Countess said that she and her husband had adopted a more modern approach.
“There was a past history of blatantly covering up our gay ancestors here, and we’ve had the gift of being able to take off the label of ‘flamboyant’. We have some gay relatives at Powderham that were amazing characters with really interesting stories.
“And we’ve been able to open that up and be a really welcoming space for same sex marriages.
“You know, the countryside is actually very gay.”

Speaker Johnson casually mentioned that Trump was an FBI informant on Epstein. Odd. Slip of the tongue? TPM’s Josh Marshall thinks not.
He thinks part of what has been hidden in the unreleased files is Trump’s role in the first federal indictment of Epstein. The one that resulted in a sweetheart deal from US Attorney Alex Acosta. He thinks MAGA leadership knows that Trump’s being the informant is going to come out and they are laying the groundwork to present Trump as a hero, not a rat. But as Marshall points out, you can’t inform on something you don’t know about.
Michael Wolff’s Epstein interviews suggest that after Trump went behind Epstein’s back to purchase a Palm Brach mansion Epstein planned to buy, Epstein threatened to reveal that the purchase was part of a Russian oligarch’s money laundering scheme, and Trump went to the FBI on Epstein’s sex trafficking.
Stay tuned.

Trump and RFK, Jr. are making America Healthy Again by kowtowing to industry.
“ The upcoming U.S. Dietary Guidelines will instead be influenced by a competing study, favored by industry, which found that moderate alcohol consumption was healthy.”
The Department of Health and Human Services has pulled back a government report warning of a link between cancer and drinking even small amounts of alcohol, according to the authors of the research.
Their report, the Alcohol Intake and Health Study, warned that even one drink a day raises the risk of liver cirrhosis, oral and esophageal cancer, and injuries. The scientists who wrote it were told that the final version would not be submitted to Congress, as had been planned.
The report is one of two assessments that were to be used to shape the new U.S. Dietary Guidelines’ recommendations on alcohol consumption. Its early findings were reported by The New York Times in January; a full draft remained on the H.H.S. website as of Friday afternoon.
A competing report, written by a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine panel, came to a conclusion long supported by the industry: that moderate drinking is healthier than not drinking. Some panelists came under criticism for financial ties to alcohol makers.

But Shirley Jones was probably close to being on the same level as Audrey Hepburn at the time? She was already famous for Oklahoma, Carousel, and The Music Man. She also won an Oscar for Elmer Gentry.
She could actually sing. But could she do two different accents? She arguably could have been a better Eliza Doolittle than Audrey, no?

The Trump administration said it will drop a Biden-era plan to require airlines to compensate passengers and cover their expenses for lengthy delays or cancellations caused by carriers, a setback for aviation consumer protections.
The proposed federal rule, which the Biden administration announced in 2023, would guarantee passengers $200 to $775 in compensation as well as free meals, lodging and rebookings in cases where U.S. flight disruptions were caused by circumstances under airlines’ control, such as a mechanical issue or a system outage.
The proposal was opened for public comment last year, though there was no timeline for it to take effect. President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Pete Buttigieg, his transportation secretary, promoted it as a game changer for travelers.
“When an airline causes a flight cancellation or delay, passengers should not foot the bill,” Mr. Buttigieg said in May 2023.

I finally saw it last night (it's free on Kanopy now).
What a performance by Marianne, madly cunting at the whole world like Peggy Gravel in "Desperate Living." Then in the last third of the movie she rips your heart out.
There's a hilarious scene at the dinner table where she cunts about anything and everything for about two straight minutes ("that baby in the outfit wif pockets! Wot's a baby need pockets for? Is 'e carryin' a KNIFE?") while her sad-sack husband and son eat silently, staring into space.
It's a career-defining role and I can't believe she wasn't nominated for an Oscar — much less passed over for that gerbil-faced kid from the Pamela Adlon show and the hulking Hispanic trans person. Marianne was robbed.

To a woman! For real! I'm sure them "rekindling their romance" after 15 years had nothing whatsoever to do Aaron finding it increasingly hard to explain why he's never married past 40! Broadway doesn't go for booze & dope, but it sure AF goes for closet cases! Aaron, Hugh Jackman, Sutton Foster, Jake G., etc.
----------
Broadway stars Aaron Tveit and Ericka Yang’s relationship began on the stage, when the two spotted each other rehearsing for the 2009 Tony Awards. At the time, Aaron was starring in Next to Normal, while Ericka was in the ensemble of Rock of Ages. “We were introduced by mutual friends, after both asking who the other person was,” Ericka recounts. “We went on a couple of fun dates, but were both so young. It didn’t go much further, as neither of us was interested in a serious relationship.”
Almost a decade later, the two reconnected when they were both cast in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. “It was a slow burn, developing as a friendship and then realizing we were completely in love,” shares Aaron, who is about to star in a new revival of Chess. “Even though I am from New York and Ericka is from Canada, we connected over similar upbringings, backgrounds, and moving to New York at the same time in our lives. Besides us both being in the same industry, we found that we both shared a love for the simple things: being at home, cooking meals together, spending time with our families, and traveling.”
In September 2023, the couple decided to take the next step in their relationship when Aaron proposed on their rooftop. “It was a beautiful Sunday evening,” he remembers, with Ericka describing it as “private and romantic.” Their engagement was prolonged when the couple found out they were expecting. They welcomed a baby girl in November 2024 and felt their lives were too busy with a newborn to host a big wedding celebration. “But in the end, she is the reason we decided to have a wedding,” says Aaron. “We wanted to celebrate our love with our people.”
Aaron and Ericka knew that their celebration would have to be in New York City. “We wanted to keep it simple: Close to home, delicious food, good music, and our favorite people,” says Ericka. “We love this city and love our neighborhood. That was a big part of the day feeling like ‘us.’” The couple took on most of the planning themselves, with support from planner Mandy Mondoro a few weeks ahead of the big day. The to-be-weds would host their immediate families for dinner at their apartment and get ready for the big day at the iconic Carlyle hotel.
The ceremony and reception were set to occur on June 22, 2025, at the restaurant The Milling Room on the Upper West Side. “It felt very New York,” says Aaron. To capture the day, the couple hired photographer Kristian Hvid, who they discovered from a French Vogue wedding feature. “It turned out he lived in New York, and after we met him, we realized he was the perfect fit,” says Ericka.

Donald Trump said Monday that he’s deploying the National Guard across Washington and taking over the city’s police department in the hopes of reducing crime, even as the city’s mayor has noted that crime is falling in the nation’s capital.
The Republican president, who said he was formally declaring a public safety emergency, compared crime in the American capital with that in other major cities, saying Washington performs poorly on safety relative to the capitals of Iraq, Brazil and Colombia, among others.
Donald Trump also said at his news briefing that his administration has started removing homeless encampments “from all over our parks, our beautiful, beautiful parks.”

And I don't mean in a movie or in an online photo, magazine, etc. I've seen a few:
- Hank Azaria in the locker room at The Sports Connection in WeHo back in the 1990s. I was really disappointed at how small it was. I mean like micropeen small.
- Forest Whitaker at the urinal in a bathroom at LAX. Again, small - a nubbin.
- John James of Dynasty fame, again at a urinal in a hotel in Denver. Quite girthy and beautiful.

Ive loved this movie since before I can remember. Id hold my tape deck to the tv and record the songs. As a gay man, Charming Carr, liesel, was my first crush. My question is, Why didn't their carriers do better from this ginormous monster hit? I know the eldest boy, Nicholas Hammond was Spiderman in the 70s but that was 10 years later and hardly a gig given to him from the heat of TSOM. Angela Cartwright, Brigitta, continued her tv work and has a solid C.V. but not moviel stardom or teen idol fame. Elder gays, did they do major P.R. at the time with the kids? Were they in the fan mags, on TV? Were they like The Beatles, for 15 minutes? I'd love to know.

"President Trump hosted the elite of Big Tech at a White House dinner Thursday evening, including Meta's Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft's Bill Gates — and each took turns to lavish praise on him.
Zuckerberg, seated next to Trump at the dinner, thanked him for arranging the event and said that all present were making "huge investments" in the U.S. "to build out data centers and infrastructure to power the next wave of innovation," with Meta committing to at least $600 billion through 2028.
Gates, who was seated next to first lady Melania Trump, thanked the president "for setting the tone such that we could make a major investment in the United States and have some key manufacturing, advanced manufacturing here.""

While parents seem to stress about whom their straight kids marry but not so much about whom their kids marry.
Our neighbors scrutinized whom their straight daughter dated. She had to marry someone Jewish, graduated from a top college, professional, upper-middle class. And, she did marry such a guy.
They paid no attention to whom their gay son dated. He ultimately married a Black, Christian, middle-class guy, and they didn't blink an eye.
I assume much of it is about the kids. Interestingly, the daughter now has one kid, a daughter. The gay guys have three kids!

Archived article from Bloomberg Businesweek, (6/6/2025) addresses "Trump's $12.5 Billion Tourism Wipeout"
Four months into the president’s second term, his policies are upending tourism worldwide. Nine charts show the toll on global travel.
US President Donald Trump’s “America First” policies have cut into travel worldwide. The simmering trade war, the crackdown at the border and the rollback of LGBTQ rights—capped by a ban on visitors from a dozen countries announced on June 4—have led to tens of thousands of canceled trips. With travelers choosing alternate destinations, the American economy will lose out on $12.5 billion this year, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council—which will widen the trade deficit, because economists count spending by visitors to the country as an export. Here’s a look at the toll the president’s policies have taken on travel, in nine charts.

The reviews are coming in and then are not only universally bad, but even worse than the first season I think.
The Guardian says: "It’s so boring, so contrived, so effortfully whimsical that, do you know what? In the end, it does become almost fascinating. You find yourself wondering things you would never normally wonder, such as, what would it take for me to embark on making vegan macaroons? How large a part of Meghan wants to run screaming for the hills? How excited could I get about tiny eggs from silkie chickens? What if I were being paid the thick end of $100m to do so, before my original deal ran out?"
The Telegraph calls it Meghan's Marie Antoinette moment.
The Times says, you'll need therapy after watching.
The Independent says, we're being gas-lit by a multimillionaire.
Finally, Meghan has an new interview with Bloomberg today where she says that felt "trapped" at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, taht she was "not okay." And that as a member of the royal family she was made to wear panty hoes (leggings we call them in the UK) which felt inauthentic (just a note, Catherine didn't start wearing panty hose on public engagements until she was in her mid-30s). She could only wear monochrome colours, but then in S2 of With Love she says she loves only wearing monochrome.

All the effort you've put in

No man has ever loved me like you do
Hadn't thought of you in a long time
But you keep sending me funny ??s
And I know you think it comes off (vicious?)
But it's precious, (adorable?) Like a tiny chihuahua barking at me from a tiny purse
That's how much it hurts
How many times has your boyfriend said
"Why are we always talking about her?"
Heard you call me "Boring Barbie" when the coke's got you ranting
?? by?? and (that/then) you said you're glad he ghosted me
Wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to (see my face?)
Some people might be offended
You talking dirty to me
It sounded nasty but it feels like you're flirting with me
I mind my business, God's my witness that I don't provoke it
It's kind of making me wet
Cause it's actually sweet
All that time you've spent on me
It's honestly lovely
All the effort you've put in It's actually romantic
Really got to hand it to you
No man has ever loved me like you do
It's actually romantic

It’s still interested in Deen’s story, giving Paula and her sons, Bobby and Jamie, plenty of screen time to talk about their hardscrabble roots, their mom’s once-chronic anxiety attacks, the fraught atmosphere when her husband drank, the early successes.
Gordon Elliott, the former-journalist-turned-producer who helped shepherd Deen into the spotlight, and Deen proceeded to unleash a camera-ready charm offensive. New York beckoned. Fame was inevitable. There will be butter.

Apparently Hanks actively supports WW2 vets, including being instrumental in pushing for the memorial in DC. The award is canceled because he actively supported Biden.
“Hanks, 69, was to receive the prestigious Sylvanus Thayer Award, which recognizes an “outstanding citizen” who did not attend West Point and has a distinguished record of service that exemplifies the academy’s ideals: “Duty, Honor, Country.” A ceremony and parade were scheduled for Sept. 25”
The decision marks a dramatic shift from June, when the association announced Hanks as its 2025 Thayer recipient. The alumni group cited his work acting in several movies portraying U.S. service members, including “Saving Private Ryan,” “Forrest Gump” and “Greyhound.” It also credited his producing of “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific,” both World War II-themed miniseries, and his extensive advocacy for veterans. Hanks, the announcement noted, was a leading proponent for creation of the World War II Memorial in D.C.; supported efforts to build a national memorial for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a celebrated Army general before entering politics; and served as national chairman for a massive fundraising campaign to establish what is now the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. “Tom Hanks has done more for the positive portrayal of the American service member, more for the caring of the American veteran, their caregivers and their family, and more for the American space program and all branches of government than many other Americans,” Robert McDonald, a former secretary of veterans affairs and the alumni association’s board chairman, said in the June announcement.“

Trump still has broad approval on several issues, especially how he’s handling Israel and Hamas. Israel retains major support from Americans. Hamas is widely hated and blamed for everything happening in Gaza including famine, as they should be. Esptein remains weirdly important for Americans. Economy is largely approved of though it’s definitely Trump’s weakest area, though people trust him much more than Biden or Democrats on the issue. Immigration remains a top issue and people largely approve of how it’s going, while not always approving of the methods used. Weirdly, a lot of people haven’t heard about Trump’s use of National Guard in DC (only 7 in 20 know about it,) but those that do know about it say it’s appropriate given that America’s major cities are lawless hellholes (not my opinion, I live in the center of one.)
Dems are going to have a hard time attacking Trump and his policies given they are distracted by Israel, a deeply unpopular issue for them that they immediately need to get off of, and that they are fighting over at a current DNC meeting. Really, it seems like his only weakness in the public’s eye is the economy, and Dems aren’t trusted there.

Lipgloss and Prada queens, rejoice! This new gay porn power couple from Dallas TX (where they seem to own a gay bar called Crush) have just made their debut in a foursome called "Don't Spit On Me, I'll Come" (wasn't that the title of an Edith Wharton novel) for men.com. It's actually just a scene of David (the dark-haired one in the backwards baseball cap) and two other burly porn performers, River North and Andrew Braun, taken turns spitting on and fucking ultrablond bearded Andrew, and then performing a bukkake on him.
I am fascinated by Andrew. He's clearly had some somewhat badly disguised beauty enhancements, including on top of his head and within his buttcheeks, which are now the shape of the Womanly Ass Troll's dreams. His features are so uncannily regular I maloso wonder if he's had work done there too.
The brunet, David, looks less odd. He's got a superb physique (marred only by a very dark vertical scar on his groin) and a very charming smile, and his face looks just naturally very handsome.
Despite Andrew's uncanny valley appearance, i am sure I will be regularly fapping to both of them if they make more porn films--they both have big dicks and fantastic gym bodies. (Also, in the scene together David, who dominates, cums like a geyser.) But I am curious if our Dallas brethren know more about them. I checked out their Instagrams and they only have photos of them wearing hilariously queeny circuit clothes and posing, endlessly, posing. I have no idea why they've used "Rage" as their (sur)noms du porn since they both look pretty gentle. '
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs commissioned an American polling firm to perform a sweeping battery of surveys and focus groups, coupled with message-testing, aimed at rehabilitating Israel’s image in both the United States and Europe. The work remains ongoing, but a preliminary report from the firm was leaked to Drop Site News by a source with direct access to it.
Israel’s best tactic to combat this, according to the study, is to foment fear of “Radical Islam” and “Jihadism,” which remain high, the research finds. By highlighting Israeli support for women’s rights and gay rights while elevating concerns that Hamas wants to “destroy all Jews and spread Jihadism,” Israeli support rebounded by an average of over 20 points in each country. “Especially once the situation in Gaza is resolved, the room for growth in all countries is very significant,” the report concludes.

For the second time in as many months, Tucker Carlson is deeply dissecting the faggotry of a political figure. Last time, it was Nick Fuentes, the right-wing boy with the flat ass. Now he says Pete Buttigieg is actually straight, but faking the faggotry for ratings and donations. He keeps claiming to get these insights from his gay producer, who no one ever sees. That queen has flawless gaydar, and passes instant judgment on who's a true banana-crammer.
Why does Tucker care so deeply about who's really a gay? How low will he go to prove it?

I have two- Exorcist 2- The Heretic and In The Cut starring Meg Ryan- I mainly want to comment on In The Cut-
In The Cut actually got some good reviews, but most were bad-
I read that it was the only film that year that got an F Cinema Score.
I don't know what it is but I love the cinematography, NYC slightly post 9/11, I love Meg in this (and I am not a remote Meg Ryan fan- in fact I do not think that I can think of one film of hers that I liked, minus this one- And Jennifer Jason Leigh its wonderful. There are some actually moving moments in this and I really love the relationship between the sisters.
Mark Ruffalo was straight up hot in this- I generally do not find him attractive, but man he was very sexy.

I Hate Dump
I know we are all sick to death of him. "Another Dump Thread"... yes. But we can't avoid him. His name is on every 2 out of 3 headlines, his orange ugly face is everywhere. It just keeps getting worse. I refuse to write his real name. Part of that is deliberately to be disrespectful. (Fortunately, there are so many nasty variations that can be made to denigrate him). But I'm also slightly paranoid, and I don't want google searches tracking my online activity.
But I thought it might be therapeutic for some of us to start an all-out hate thread! So this is for those of us, like me, who just can't take it anymore. Here's a safe place, (hopefully), to post how you really feel. Just get it out of your system! On Drumpf, his rotten kids, his nasty, Nazi administration, whoever. Post any horrible denigrating photos you come across. I also advise, like me, you don't use his actual name. Be creative with whatever crude variation you come up with.

The allegations against Rep. Cory Mills, seen here achieving silent orgasm just as the hot dog cart arrives at CPAC, are part of a broader investigation and lawsuit led by the mistress and her attorney, who is also a former political opponent of Mr. Mills.
Mills was recently in the news for allegedly assaulting an unnamed woman in his apartment in Washington, DC. Mills' wife, who was not present for any of these events, could not be reached for comment.
According to the beauty queen's statements, Mills threatened to release the nude photos after their breakup, derailing her pageant career (and I'm guessing her future career plans as a news anchor). He also threatened to assault any future boyfriend she had after leaving him. She wants the people of Daytona to realize their congressman is a violently jealous piece of shit.

Thanks Trump! We're tired of winning !
Thanks to Trump's unfriendly policies effecting foreign travelers, Newport, RI - one of the crown jewels for visitors to New England - has suffered one of the worst summer seasons in years. The Newport Preservation Society as well as the Newport Hospitality Group will be officially reporting their data soon, and word has it they are both showing a 20% decline in visitors this year over last year. Most of the decrease is from the Canadian tourists - who once regularly came down by bus and visited the city by the sea for days - who stayed out of America this summer.
Yesterday, the historic Viking Hotel, which has been hosting travelers since 1926, reported to RI's DLT that they will be laying off 105 workers starting November 3. Many Trump supporters want to say it's normal for the 'end of the season' or that the hotel will be do an extensive 'renovation' soon, so they won't be needing so much staff when floors are closed off. But the hotel has never ever laid off over 100 employees before at 'the end of the season' (the hotel stays open year round, and usually has a huge Holiday business in November and December). The hotel always does 'major renovations' in the off-season, and never laid off this many people. Trump has ruined the tourist industry in America - and everyone is feeling it.
Thanks Trump! Let's go back to 'losing'.

Someone in the Chicago post said that when people see high-powered people get away with so much, it makes them more apt to commit a crime. It made me think about how the state of the country has made me question why the fuck am I putting my shopping cart away? Why the fuck am I telling the complete truth at work? I don't think I have done anything that is different, but I am shocked that I am even asking these kinds of questions. Does anyone else feel this?

McDonald’s called on restaurants to pay their wait staff a minimum wage — rather than relying on tips to make up the difference in salary.
The fast-food giant, which has seen its market share shrink in the face of stiff competition from full-service eateries that rely on tipped waiters, quit the powerful National Restaurant Association earlier this week.
“Right now, there’s an uneven playing field,” CEO Chris Kempczinski told CNBC, adding that “all classes of workers should be paid at or above the federal minimum wage.”
At the center of the dispute is the tipped minimum wage — just $2.13 an hour under federal law — which allows full-service restaurants like Chili’s and IHOP to rely on gratuities to fill the gap to $7.25.
That advantage has helped them push cheap burger deals that cut into McDonald’s sales.
The Big Mac maker decided to exit the NRA over the issue while aligning itself with labor activists who have long blasted the system.
“The subminimum wage is indefensible,” said activist group One Fair Wage, which cheered Kempczinski’s remarks while calling them self-interested.
Chicago, McDonald’s hometown, is already phasing out the tipped wage.
California — which last year raised its minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 an hour — and a half-dozen other states have done the same. DC voted to kill it, then paused the rollout this year.

In 2021, Nassib – then playing for the Las Vegas Raiders – became the first active NFL player in league history to publicly identify as gay.
Nassib said he agonized over the decision for 15 years, adding that he was a private person and wasn’t seeking any publicity.
Months later, he became the first active NFL player identifying as gay to feature in a regular season game, starring in the Raiders’ thrilling 33-27 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
When he announced, Nassib pointed towards The Trevor Project – a suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ youth – and how it had helped him.
On Friday, Nassib will continue that partnership, as he announces the second round pick of the Cleveland Browns – the team with whom Nassib began his NFL career in 2016 – at the 2024 NFL Draft.
As the team’s guest picker, Nassib will be joined on stage in Detroit by The Trevor Project’s founder and interim CEO, Peggy Rajski.

Charlie Sheen is fully opening up about his past in two upcoming new projects — his memoir The Book of Sheen (Sept. 9) and the Netflix documentary aka Charlie Sheen (Sept. 10) — and in both, he gets candid about past sexual experiences with men.
"I flipped the menu over," he says in the Netflix doc and the book, of trying something new after years of having sex with women. He says he's no longer hiding from his past, but owning it. "I'm not going to run from my past, or let it own me," he tells PEOPLE in this week's cover story.
In the documentary when the interviewer asks Sheen how it feels to be talking publicly for the first time about having sex with men, he says, "Liberating. It's f---ing liberating... [to] just talk about stuff. It's like a train didn't come through the side of the restaurant. A f---ing piano didn't fall out of the sky. No one ran into the room and shot me."

6 September 2025 South Korea's government has held an emergency meeting and vowed to swiftly respond to the arrests of hundreds of its citizens in a massive immigration raid at a Hyundai plant in the US.
Seoul has dispatched diplomats to the site in Georgia, while LG Energy Solution, which operates the plant with Hyundai, said it was suspending most business trips to the US.
US officials detained 475 people - mostly South Korean nationals - who they said were found to be illegally working at the battery facility, one of the largest foreign investment projects in the state.
The White House defended the operation, dismissing concerns that the raid could deter foreign investment.
"They were illegal aliens and ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] was just doing its job," President Donald Trump said following the raids on Friday.
Video released by ICE officials showed Asian workers shackled in front of a building, with some wearing yellow vests with names such as "Hyundai" and "LG CNS".
"People on short-term or recreational visas are not authorized to work in the US," ICE said, adding that the raid was necessary to protect American jobs.
"This operation sends a clear message that those who exploit the system and undermine our workforce will be held accountable," Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent Steven Schrank said in a statement on Saturday.
South Korea, a close US ally, has pledged tens of billions of dollars in American manufacturing investment, partly to offset tariffs.
The timing of the raid, as the two governments engage in sensitive trade talks, has raised concern in Seoul.
Trump has actively encouraged major investments from other countries while also tightening visa allocations for foreign companies.

When you see a ginormous mansion in Philly listed for under $1 million, you just *know" it's gonna be special! And this baby is a doozy. First built in the Roaring '20s in Mt. Airy – a neighborhood that's totally okay, with absolutely no strife, ongoing weirdness or racing!!! – in an architectural style we'll call Philly Avant-Garde Hodgepodge!
The orange-red lacquered bottom half of the foyer is an absolute delight. It's as if Dolly Parton's Best Little Whorehouse in Texas came to life up in Yankeeland! The living areas are much more sedate, designed in a style known to some as "gramma chic." Please ignore the bizarre '70s-era window A/C unit in the enclosed patio with a giraffe-head toddler's toy underneath – I promise it's not creepy in the least!!! The current owners just REALLY love kids!!!
You'll feel yourself jump in time segueing from the '50s-era dining room to the 2015-era kitchen that's waaaaay too modern for a house this old, but gosh these owners are so delightfully eclectic! The weird stained-wood cabinets & subway tile with far too much black grout are easily fixable. Also, please ignore the photos showing large cages in the background, along with two seemingly industrial-sized pet food dispensers in pic #21! The owners aren't "cat hoarders" – they're merely pussy lovers. ❤️ The other bedrooms inspire more gramma chic, with furniture that may look decades old but looks can be deceiving!!
The guest bathroom with shit-brown grasscloth wallpaper is there to *inspire* – shitting, that is – and while it looks worn AF, I swear it's just the lighting! But really, the bathrooms are what make this place such a delight. Be sure to check out the turquoise one! It'll bring back memories of that weird '60s Italian horror film you saw in art school while tripping your nuts off on acid. Finally, note the child's room with a Pride flag on the wall. Okay, more like a painting of a Pride flag, and the colors are off so it's prolly just a meaningless rainbow, but it's a kid FFS!
ALL THIS for UNDER $1 million! You won't even NOTICE that you're right next to a high-traffic intersection with four-way crosswalks and 24-hour red lights!!! Run, don't walk, to make an offer TOMORROW!

Flying to Europe (Romania) in a few days. Take a 5 or 10mg thc gummy every night before bed. It has really helped me sleep so much better.
We are going to be gone for nearly three weeks, and I am worried that without them, I will be a crabby tired zombie the whole time.
Theoretically, cannabis is illegal in Romania, our point of entry into Europe is Munich.
Would you try to go without, take them disguised in a gummy vitamin bottle, or just take them 8n their normal packaging (carryon for both the take them options). Don’t want the midnight express treatment unless I actually get to carry through with Brad Davis instead of the BS in that movie’s shower scene, I suspect the likelihood of any real issues are minimal, but that may be wishful thinking,
Any experience? Thanks

Darker colors, warm tones, and vintage furniture create a cozy ambience while honoring the space’s open-plan design. A key member of the Montreal Canadiens' 1970s dynasty, Dryden's career in the spotlight was only just getting started when he retired from the game — and while at the top of his own game — in his early 30s.
A lawyer, author, politician and NHL executive, he would go on to leave an indelible mark across large swaths of wider Canadian society.

Vindictiveness and cruelty are the point with Trump.
Former presidents receive Secret Service protection for life. Harris, as a former vice president, received six months of protection after leaving office, according to federal law. That period ended on July 21. However, her protection had been extended for an additional year via a directive – not made public until now – signed by then-President Joe Biden shortly before leaving office, according to multiple people familiar with the undisclosed arrangement. That is the order Trump canceled in his letter, titled “Memorandum for the Secretary of Homeland Security” and dated Thursday.
“You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris,” the letter reads in full.

Rozentals says he was suspended from his funded training programme because he makes what have been described as "edgy videos"
Kurt Adams Rozentals, a canoeist who has been training to compete on behalf of Great Britain at the 2028 Olympic Games in canoe slalom, says that his hopes have been dashed thanks to him launching an OnlyFans account.
The 22 year old athlete had previously been part of Paddle UK’s funded training programme for Olympic hopefuls until he was suspended in April.
The organisation have referred to the suspension as an “interim action” which is designed to “safeguard other athletes, staff, and volunteers due to the nature of the allegation”. It has not made clear exactly what the “allegation” against Rozentals is, however its disciplinary policy list does include “offensive use of social media and indecent, offensive or immoral behaviour” as examples of gross misconduct.
The canoeist has said that he only started in the account on January of this year in order to cover the costs of his training, as the £16,000 he received a year on the programme was not enough to pay for his needs.
“At the end of the day, I started this to help with the sport, and it certainly is helping when I’m on the start line, and I’m not having to worry about rent and food on the table. It’s a good feeling,” he said in an interview with Sky News.
In an emotional post on social media last month, Rozentals wrote that he “might lose [his] sports career.” He went on write: “i started making what they now describe “edgy videos”, with the focus to grow a following, because trying to live on the salary PaddleUK pays their athletes is near impossible.”

A controversial doctor given top billing at the Reform party conference has used his main-stage speech to air a claim the Covid vaccine caused cancer in the royal family.
The speech by Aseem Malhotra, a British cardiologist who was appointed as a senior adviser to the US health secretary and vaccine sceptic Robert F Kennedy, drew sharp intakes of breath in the Birmingham auditorium where he was handed a prime speaking slot.
After setting out what he said were findings showing that vaccines “created havoc” in the human body, Malhotra said he had been asked to share something by a doctor who he described as one of Britain’s most eminent oncologists.
“He thinks it’s highly likely that the Covid vaccines have been a factor, a significant factor in the cancer of members of the royal family,” said Malhotra, who had previously said: “This isn’t just his opinion many other doctors feel the same way.”

Welcome to Plathville star Barry Plath has seemingly been working on his revenge body as he has been hitting the gym hard following his split from ex Kim Plath.
The reality TV star, 55, looked unrecognizable when he was seen in a recent selfie with son Micah Plath looking ripped as the father-son duo showed off their bulked-up arms and chest on Saturday, August 26.
Since Barry and Kim announced their split in June 2022, he has found a new love: fitness. “Working out, that’s my new hobby,” the father of 10 said during the trailer for the upcoming season of the family’s reality series. “Blood flows in and everything gets bigger,” he laughed.
The former couple – who share children Ethan, Hosanna, Micah, Moriah, Lydia, Isaac, Amber, Cassia, Mercy and Joshua – shocked fans when they separated after 24 years of marriage. “After considerable thought and discussion, we have decided to end our marriage,” Kim and Barry told People in a joint statement at the time. “While this was not an easy decision, we know it’s the best choice for both of us. We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children.”
Prior to their announcement, the pair’s marital struggles played out during season 4 of the TLC series. They revealed they had been living separately for “a while” after Kim told her husband she wasn’t “happy.”
“One thing I thought wouldn’t ever be shaken was us. Now it’s totally shaken up. It’s just really sad. It’s a tragedy,” he told Kim. Kim later explained that she previously felt ignored by her husband when she tried to discuss their marital issues.
“Now it’s gotten to the point where I’m ready to leave the marriage, now he cares,” she added. “But I feel like if I was really worth it, he would have listened earlier.”
While Kim has seemingly moved on from their marriage, hinting at a new relationship in the trailer for the upcoming season, Barry has taken on the role of single parent as he cares for the former couple’s younger children.
“This man right here sets a real high standard for men in my life! I never really realized how important the role that a father plays in his daughter’s life is till I started restoring my relationship with my dad,” daughter Moriah Plath gushed about her father via Instagram in May. “My dad has grown so so much as a person and father and it’s changed my life. I guess the best way to put it is I’m secure! I feel priceless, and I am the most confident in who I am than I have ever been in my life.”

This show is so unbelievable. I had not seen it in years and decided to binge it on Hulu, as I used to find Joey Lawrence crazy hot. I never realized how insufferable Mayim Bialik was as the title character until sitting through about three seasons of this nonsense. She is the shrewiest shrew who ever shrewed, yet she always has hot guys dying of love for her. On top of being a cunt who only ever nags her hot boyfriend, she is a total uggo! How did this show get the green light? How did Mayim get cast in a role that she was not right for? If Blossom is supposed to be popular why did they give her the job?? Nobody wanted to date or look like this fug.
What characters do you think were too terrible to be on tv?

He predicts that MAGA will vanish like a fart in the wind, and everyone will instantly say they never liked him and never met him.
But he also predicts that the shady business dealings, pardons for cash, and cooked books will come into view - I'm not sure how. If you ask me, the MAGA cult would rather burn records than show them to the world. He predicts Trump's law enforcement goons (Bondi, Patel, Bongino, etc.) will end up going to jail for knowingly breaking so many laws for Trump.
And America will finally realize how deeply they've been scammed by this mafia don and his endless greed. People will piss on his grave.
I doubt that last part.

Retired Army Col. Mark Bieger, president and chief executive officer of the West Point Association of Graduates, disclosed the decision in an email to faculty circulated Friday.
Hanks, 69, was to receive the prestigious Sylvanus Thayer Award, which recognizes an “outstanding citizen” who did not attend West Point and has a distinguished record of service that exemplifies the academy’s ideals: “Duty, Honor, Country.” A ceremony and parade were scheduled for Sept. 25.

Japan’s Prince Hisahito is the first male royal to reach adulthood in 40 years. Many people in Japan worry he could be the last.
The elaborate palace rituals to formally recognize Hisahito as an adult on Saturday are a reminder of the bleak outlook for the world's oldest monarchy. Much of this comes down to its male-only succession policy and dwindling numbers.
Hisahito is second in line to the Chrysanthemum Throne and is likely to become emperor one day. After him, however, there is nobody left, leaving the Imperial family with a dilemma over whether they should reverse a 19th century ruling that abolished female succession.

A staffer in the Justice Department said in a secretly recorded video that the department would redact any Republican names from its investigative files on the late sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein. The administration has been funneling the Epstein files to Capitol Hill in a supposed show of transparency, but only liberals’ names will remain visible, the staffer said. “If they’re released in any way, it’s going to be very redacted. They’ll redact every Republican or conservative person in those files, leave all the liberal Democratic people in those files,” Joseph Schnitt, acting deputy chief of the DOJ’s Office of Enforcement Operations, says in the video. Schnitt apparently thought he was speaking to someone he’d met through a dating app, but he was actually talking to an undercover operative for the right-wing entrepreneur James O’Keefe. The video is the most recent and possibly one of the most damaging instances of conservative backlash against the Trump administration over its refusal to make the Epstein files public. Earlier this year, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said she had Epstein’s mythical “client list” on her desk, only to backtrack this summer and announce no new information would ever come out.

If you live in a major city, you might have seen what looks like a hipster drag show playing out in a park or on a sidewalk recently: a parade of young men strutting with tote bags, holding up feminist literature, and showing off their newly purchased vinyls.
That guess wouldn’t be totally wrong. Over the past month, Gen Z has been holding public contests all over the country, and even internationally, awarding the best impressions of a “performative male,” the latest meme taking off on TikTok.
The slang is a bit misleading. A “performative male” doesn’t perform traditional masculinity à la a “gym bro.” Rather, he’s curated a notably alt, intellectual, and, in Gen Z terms, “soft” aesthetic, often with the purpose of attracting progressive women.

"Gonna try a brand new way to look for the US of A." ...ABC Movie of the Week starring Carl Betz, Vera Miles, Ruth McDevitt, Jeff Bridges, with guest stars Sal Mineo, Howard Duff. Also with Tyne Daly.
The Video Beat review: Mike convinces his family to re-examine their goals and join him on a cross-country odyssey in a 1928 Greyhound bus. Mom, Dad and even Grandma soon begin a mind-blowing adventure discovering America's hippie generation. The family comes upon a Woodstock-like festival [the actual Sky River Rock Festival]. There's lots of footage of real longhaired hippies dancing, grooving, and playing in the mud. They meet the love generation, including a pregnant hippie who plans to do natural childbirth in her cardboard box house. Sal Mineo is excellent as a hippie biker/stoner burnout. Grandma really gets into it; she wears peace sign earrings.
This film was a pilot for a series that never happened. (Maybe if this had become a series, Jeff Bridges wouldn't have been able to be in The Last PIcture Show, and would have been a TV teen heart throb instead.

I am not a fan of Gladwell’s, but I do empathise with him. Yes, he was dishonest but at a time when people faced losing friends and work, I understand why he was not forthcoming.
Of the people who did politely or impolitely support women I sport, most had a lifetime of contrarian publicity behind them, like Germaine Greer and Richard Dawkins, or were too big to cancel by virtue of being The Best Selling Writer In The Entire World. And even Rowling received daily death and rape threats.
I have what I believe is a fairly popular view on the subject - trans folks and persons with Differences Of Sex Development do require special protections and encouragement in sports and so do, separately, bio women. But I would never say so in public or even amongst friendly acquaintances at a dinner. And certainly not at work, which would be inappropriate anyway.
By the way, the podcast he was interviewed on, The Real Science Of Sport, is run by a journalist and a sports scientist and I highly recommend it.

Meanwhile, in LA's sole restaurant, Ill Giordino, vile, despicable mistress of evil, Sheila Carter, makes pizza while bonding with her granddaughter, two-time murderer Luna of the Enormous Panties. Wafting throughout the city is the rank odor of Daphne, a perfume expert who can be smelled twenty miles away, making it impossible for her to eavesdrop on nearby conversations. All are looking for one thing that may heal their galaxy: the cure to Zende's explosion from twink to obese, hoping to stop his expanding girth before he outgrows blouses and transitions into caftans--and possibly blocks out the LA sun. Continue the adventure here, where Liam may be dying, Dollar Bill needs pants that don't give him a muffin top, where Hope is hopeless, and JKW wins another Daytime Emmy just for showing up to work in a bad mood. . .

FAIRYLAND
Fairyland is a coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of San Francisco’s vibrant cultural scene in the 1970s and ’80s. This captivating film chronicles a father and daughter relationship as it evolves through an era of bohemian decadence to the sober and heartbreaking era of the AIDS crisis. Starring Emilia Jones (CODA), Scoot McNairy (A Complete Unknown), Cody Fern (“American Horror Story”), Maria Bakalova (The Apprentice), Bella Murphy (Coming 2 America), with Adam Lambert (“Glee”), and Geena Davis (Thelma & Louise) and introducing Nessa Dougherty. The film is written, produced, and directed by Andrew Durham.
It looks kind of lovely. The director's only prior credits were two short films from the 90s that he directed and being a production coordinator on several projects in the 90s. Wonder what his story is!

The majority of the items in my parents’ house are antiques and collectibles. For years, I tried to convince them to sort through everything and sell the pieces I would not be interested in. Fortunately, I have always loved antiques, especially high-end ones, but I have no desire to keep the bric-a-brac my mother insisted on collecting over the years—not to mention her countless porcelain dolls. The dolls, in particular, are proving to be an absolute headache, as the only people who seem to want them are either too elderly and disabled to come pick them up, or they live on the other side of the country. Sigh.
My mother was a light to moderate hoarder, and over time she filled the house not only with her own belongings but also with items from her grandmother, her mother, her aunt, and her mother-in-law after each of them passed away. And now, all of it has been left for me to deal with.
I way too much furniture, dining sets, clothes, dolls, glass, paintings, old family photos, and just random shit.
Anyway, what did you do with it all? Did you slowly organize and throw things away or did you hire junk removers? Rent a dumpster? Light a match and burn it all?

Carlos Alcaraz stormed into a third successive grand-slam final with a straight-sets win that left Novak Djokovic looking every one of his 38 years.
Some of the previous eight meetings between them had been thrilling, close-fought encounters but as Djokovic was plagued by fitness issues affecting his training, Alcaraz did not have to be at his best to take the 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 victory.
As the months tick by, the issue for Djokovic is rapidly becoming one of if, not when, he could deliver a coveted and record-breaking 25th major title. But as he faded in the second and third sets, it looked not out of the question that this could be his last match in New York.

'Labubu, a mischievous-looking vinyl toy created by artist Kasing Lung, has gone from niche character to viral sensation. Sold through Chinese retailer Pop Mart in blind boxes, these toothy figures have sparked global demand, driven by TikTok unboxing trends and celebrity endorsements. Prices have surged on resale platforms, even reaching $7,000 for limited editions. Amid shortages and chaos at store launches, fans are turning to smugglers, raising concerns over overconsumption, counterfeits and ethical reselling.'

Saturday Night Live head Lorne Michaels has confirmed that SNL cast members will exit the show ahead of the upcoming season 51 premiere on NBC.
After no notable cast departures were revealed following the show's landmark season 50 finale, the 80-year-old TV legend announced in a new interview that the roster will get a big shakeup as season 51 looms.
"Yes," Michaels told Puck when asked if he's "going to shake things up" with a new cast.
He recalled being at a party for the season 50 premiere, during which he remembered Dana Carvey approaching him and saying, "I don't think anyone knows you called me June 4 [to play Joe Biden]."
That made him realize he "wanted people coming back and being part of [the 50th season]," as it marked such a monumental moment for the long-running sketch comedy show.
"So, when Kate [McKinnon] hosted, Kristen [Wiig] and Maya [Rudolph] came back for it. And that meant there couldn’t be those kind of disruptions [to the cast], or anything that was going to take the focus off [the 50th season]," Michaels continued. "And we had an election."
The outlet pressed Michaels on feeling "pressure to reinvent this season" ahead, to which he replied, "Yeah, for sure. It’ll be announced in a week or so."
He additionally confirmed that the show will again rely on actor James Austin Johnson to play Donald Trump for the foreseeable future.
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to SNL representatives for comment.

From there, lots of studio drumming, maybe a jazz festival or two.
When she would tour singing and drumming every five years or so, the place would be packed with gay men, lesbians, and Reality Bites types.

But this year, trying to get his routine shot has been anything but.
The 70-year-old retiree from Long Beach said it has been frustratingly difficult to get a COVID vaccine on time this year because of how the Trump administration has effectively postponed delivery of the shots, and made it harder for people to get them.

Dionne Warwick was set to play the Soul Town Festival in London Saturday when she felt pain in her leg.
It was so bad that she had to undergo emergency surgery on Labor Day and cancel her upcoming appearance.
Warwick, 84, shared the news on Instagram Tuesday.
“Please know how disappointed I am not to be with you at the Soul Town Festival,” the music icon, who lives in South Orange, said in a statement.
“The last thing I expected was to have surgery the day I was to fly to London,” Warwick said. “Pain was unbearable and my doctor rushed me into surgery thank goodness, as it could’ve resulted in something far worse.”
Warwick did not share her diagnosis, but said she was in recovery.
“Hopefully we can do this festival again in the future, and I’ll be walking like a normal person,” she said. “Please keep me in prayer and I’ll see you soon. Until next time, Thanks for your understanding. Luv Ya All!!!! Dionne.”
In a separate post, the festival shared that Warwick’s management advised that “walking will be difficult following the surgery and she will not be able to fly until her doctors give her the all clear.”
At the Sept. 6 show in London, Warwick was to have performed on a lineup with Cameo, Lisa Stansfield, Shalamar and more.
Warwick also canceled a Labor Day appearance at the New York State Fair in Syracuse because of her surgery.
In October, the Grammy-winning singer of hits like “Don’t Make Me Over,” “Walk on By,” “That’s What Friends Are For” and more was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The same month, East Orange, Warwick’s hometown, renamed a street Dionne Warwick Way.
Before her induction into the rock hall, Warwick told NJ Advance Media that she has no plans to retire from touring and performing.
“When I feel that I have not been able to reach the bar that I have set for myself, that’s when I’ll say, ‘you know, it’s been wonderful. Thank you very much, and there I go,’” she said.
“When I feel that happens, where we have to give lyrics or I have to use a teleprompter or any of those crazy things that happen during the course of time with a lot of our singers ... (I don’t) need for me to do something that I know I’m not capable of doing.”
“I’m following a path that has been kind of designated already for me,” Warwick said. “God put me on a road here to walk a certain path and that’s what I’m doing. And whatever happens next happens. I don’t know what’s going to happen next. I wish I did, but I don’t.”

U.S. Office of Personnel Management issued a memo announcing that, beginning in 2026, all federal employee health plans will be barred from covering gender-affirming care—including hormone therapy and gender-affirming surgeries—for both transgender youth and adults. The sweeping prohibition affects health benefits for more than 10 million federal workers and their family members, marking one of the largest rollbacks of transgender healthcare access in U.S. history. Even more disturbing, the memo mandates that insurers cover “faith-based counseling” for transgender individuals, otherwise known as conversion therapy. Taken together, the provisions appear designed not just to strip access to necessary medical care, but to coerce federal workers into detransitioning or leaving public service altogether.

CBS News staffers are “freaking out” over a mandate Thursday from the new boss of parent company Paramount Skydance ordering all workers to return to the office five days a week ahead of an expected cost-cutting bloodbath, The Post has learned.
David Ellison, who completed the long-stalled $8.4 billion merger with the media giant last month, gave employees the option to return to their desks full-time or take a buyout, according to the memo obtained by The Post.
“People are freaking out and wondering if they’ll survive at the company until Thanksgiving,” one source close to the situation said.
“They are hoping to get a lot of attrition.”
Paramount Skydance — home to ratings-challenged CBS News, along with struggling cable channels MTV, VH1 and Nickelodeon — is looking to slash at least $2 billion from the budget, The Post exclusively reported last month.
Currently, each business unit has its own work-from-home policy.
Ellison said the “phased return-to-office” will start in January and would mandate employees to return to work in their Los Angeles and New York offices five days a week.
“I believe that in-person collaboration is absolutely vital to building and strengthening our culture and driving the success of our business,” the son of billionaire Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison wrote.

On a busy corner in Greenwich Village, a new coffee shop with a dark facade and a spartan interior hummed with life.
Baristas in black paperboy caps worked quietly behind the bar, tapping away at screens and at boxy gray coffee machines. Customers, who were required to order by phone, streamed in to pick up their drinks. There was no line.
By the doors, sandwich-board signs advertised syrupy concoctions with eye-catching names: iced coconut latte, iced velvet latte, pineapple cold brew, pink sunrise.
Above the entrance, two words glowed in white: Luckin Coffee.
“It’s different,” said Ari Birnbaum, 18, who traveled downtown from his home on the Upper West Side to try Luckin one day last month after learning about the shop on TikTok. “It’s cool. It’s sleek.”
It may not be a household name in New York City. But Luckin, which was founded less than a decade ago in Beijing and has more than 26,000 stores worldwide, nearly all of them in China, has dominated its home market with a futuristic retail model built around an efficient mobile-order system, inventive drinks and plenty of discounts.
Now Luckin has made it to the United States, the birthplace of Starbucks, the java goliath. The Chinese company has opened four stores in Manhattan this summer. The one in Greenwich Village stands a block away from a Starbucks that recently closed.

The government-sponsored anti-smoking campaign that ran from the late 1990s through the 2010s must be, hands down, the most successful public information campaign waged by any government in history. I quit in 2007 because of the price but I surely would have quit regardless because if you are a smoker today, you are getting shamed for it by at least one person every day. Amazingly successful social engineering campaign.

About 2-1/2 hours ago I went out to the front yard to call my three indoor/outdoor cats in for dinner. I called names, and thought I saw my black cat running from across the street, but when I opened the gate in rushed a black puppy instead, his ENTIRE body one big wag. My neighbor's fiance was doing yard work across the street at her house. He saw me and was spitting nails, saying "These two guys just pulled up in front of me, opened the door and THREW that puppy out, looking dead in my face and smirking the whole time!"
I scooped Puppy up, and he immediately snuggled into my neck. Took him inside to a spare room, sat on a sofa with him on my lap. Suuuucch a good little one. Three of the cats are curious-to-indifferent; one just stalks off when Puppy approaches; the last is LIVID.
My question: is it okay to put Pup on the front porch for the night? I don't want nighttime animal drama, plus I don't know Pup's health status. I have several cat beds s/he'd fit, and while I don't have dog food, I have plenty of high-quality cat kibble Pup already seems to love. Of course I have water bowls. Pup would be 1000% safe as long as s/he stays inside the yard, inside the fence line.
Pup is sweet as pie and good as gold. Except he keeps trying to gnaw on my phone charger cable, which is easy to put out of his reach. But I'll give him some cat toys to keep him entertained.
Tomorrow I'll deal with which no-kill shelter to take him to. He really is a big-little ball of total sweetness. Plus his little snuffling noises sound like Snoopy.

“It’s Hollywood. It’s fantasy land. It’s not real. But it’s sold to you as real,” Jackson said, alleging the “film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it.”

For eight years, between 2003 and 2011, the sitcom Two and a Half Men starring Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer was one of the biggest shows on television — but production had to be halted in 2011 after Sheen's drug addiction spiraled, and the network eventually decided to fire him. (He was replaced by Ashton Kutcher, and the show continued for three more seasons.)
Now, Sheen, who turned 60 on Sept. 3 and has been sober for eight years, is looking back at those tumultuous times in both a memoir (The Book of Sheen, out Sept. 9) and the Netflix documentary (aka Charlie Sheen, streaming Sept. 10). In the new PEOPLE cover story, he shares how grateful he is for Cryer's compassion in the documentary.

Mark Volman, the singer who co-founded the buoyant 1960s hitmakers the Turtles and was half of the humorous harmony duo Flo & Eddie, has died. He was 78.
Representatives for Volman confirmed the death to Rolling Stone, citing a “brief, unexpected illness.” In 2020, Volman was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, but continued touring and only announced his diagnosis in 2023.
When promoting his memoir “Happy Forever: My Musical Adventures with the Turtles, Frank Zappa, T. Rex, Flo & Eddie, and More” in 2023, Volman went public with his 2020 diagnosis of Lewy body dementia, a disease that results in a decline in cognitive ability, affecting reasoning, memory and movement.

A Brazilian billionaire has named football star Neymar as the sole heir to his estate, an unusual inheritance that could be worth roughly US$846 million to US$1 billion and is now before the courts for confirmation.
The will, filed at a notary’s office in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and authenticated on June 12 with two witnesses and a substitute notary present, reportedly leaves “all his worldly possessions” to Neymar.
Media accounts said the deceased, a childless man from Rio Grande do Sul, had never met the player and that he “identifies with [Neymar] on a personal level.” One passage quoted in reports reads: “I like Neymar, I identify with him a lot. He’s not self-serving, something rare these days.”

If you think Emma Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos pushed the envelope with “Poor Things,” wait until you see “Bugonia.”
Two years after the duo came to the Lido with their previous Oscar winner, “Poor Things,” they returned with a perverse thriller about a female CEO (Stone) who is kidnapped and tortured by one of her employees (Jesse Plemons), on the suspicion of being an alien. “Bugonia” features push-the-envelope scenes between captor and captive, leaving the Venice audience covering their eyes and gasping at the film’s more tense moments.

Earlier this year, word spread through the text chains of the insular group of men who own and operate high-end Manhattan nightclubs that two new whales had appeared on the scene. For months, William Duplessie and John Woeltz had been showing up nightly at clubs without a reservation. They were suddenly regulars at Jean’s, Paul’s Casablanca, and the Box, a downtown burlesque with a what-happens-here-stays-here reputation, where they often spent six figures in a single evening. Clubs had to scramble to find more expensive bottles to sell them.
They tended to bring their own security team — sometimes as many as ten guards, more than A-list celebrities have. Yet none of the nightclub operators knew who they were. Several people who saw them assumed they were tourists. “They looked like hillbillies in the middle of Manhattan,” one says, perhaps referring to the gun holsters they sometimes wore on their hips and their all-camo outfits. Other times, they wore Louis Vuitton monogrammed sets, or bear-fur vests, or bulletproof vests adorned with military patches. “When someone like these guys comes in, everyone gets all excited,” says a club promoter. “These are the types of people that nightlife is built on, because no rational-thinking person would do this on a regular basis.”

You can argue all day about whether celebrities have an obligation to speak out about injustice or not but, ultimately, having so much influence and choosing not to use it in the face of a genocide your government is helping to perpetuate, and your engagement knocks from the front page, is not "neutrality". Prestigious news organizations gave scant attention when, for several days recently, Donald Trump faded from public view. Other than some social media posts and some blurry golf-course images, the normally ubiquitous president seemed almost to disappear.
But most of Big Journalism gave that subject a pass.
Given Trump’s obvious health problems – swollen ankles, an uneven gait, bruised hands and instances of verbal confusion – the media silence struck a lot of people as hypocrisy.
“Why are the biggest newsrooms silent?” demanded John Passantino, who writes for the media newsletter Status. “No front-page write ups. No broadcast packages.” Trump’s health problems and near disappearance “barely registered in mainstream coverage”.

Billionaire Shark Tank star Daniel Lubetzky warns that Gen Z who lean too heavily on social media (and even AI), may lose the skills they need to succeed. Instead, the Gen Xer advises young people to embrace critical thinking and curiosity—and he says, the key to doing so is going back to basics and reading philosophers like Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle. It’s a message that’s been echoed across the business world, including the CEOs of AWS and OpenAI.
The billionaire Shark Tank star and KIND bar founder Daniel Lubetzky tells Gen Z it may be time to put the tech away and get back to basics in order to get ahead.
“Being a critical thinker is in high demand, and they’re going to become greater demand. AI is real, but it doesn’t have the creativity that humans have,” Lubetzky exclusively tells Fortune. “If, as young people, you lean into your curiosity, in your critical thinking and in your creativity, you will win.”

Donald Trump will sign an executive order Friday to change the Department of Defense’s name to the Department of War, part of a broader effort to present a more aggressive, victorious military to the world.
A senior administration official confirmed the change, which would likely require an act of Congress. But the White House is looking for other alternatives that would avoid a vote, according to another person familiar with the deliberations.
A War Department existed after U.S. independence until 1947, when the Truman administration split the Army and Air Force into separate military branches and joined them with the then-independent Navy to form the Department of Defense, two years later.

I've been laid up with the flu for the past week and have gone down the YouTube rabbit hole watching police bodycam videos, everything from DUI arrests to drunks getting kicked out of bars to ex-girlfriends stalking their ex-boyfriends. Most of the videos are hilarious (and most take place in Floriduh, of course), and I love how all the people who get arrested inevitably shriek, "I didn't do anything!" as the handcuffs are placed on them. It's also fun watching deadbeats without a dime scream, "I'm calling my attorney," as if these WalMart rejects have a lawyer on retainer.
Anybody else get oddly entertained by these?

SEPTEMBER 3--A 46-year-old employee wearing an inflatable dog costume outside a Florida puppy store allegedly strangled a bike-riding juvenile with whom he had an ongoing dispute, according to court records.
Rodney Platthy, who works at Sunshine Puppies in Clearwater, was outside the business early Friday evening when “multiple juveniles rode by on bicycles.”
At the time, Platthy--a registered sex offender--was “wearing a ‘puppy suit’ costume,” cops reported. The business is adjacent to a busy roadway, and the costumed worker, a la a sign spinner, serves to attract the attention of passing motorists.
Investigators allege that Platthy, who had previously tangled with the young riders, “waved the juveniles over to him.” Platthy was joined outside by the puppy store proprietor.
As the owner was addressing the group, one of the juveniles sought to ride away. As the owner grabbed the bike’s handlebars “to prevent a collision with himself,” Platthy (seen at left) “approached the victim from behind and placed him in a chokehold.”
The male victim, whose age is not listed in court records, told police he was “unable to breathe for a brief period of time until the defendant released him seconds later. Officers were then contacted.”
Platthy was arrested for battery by strangulation, a felony. The defendant, according to an arrest affidavit, showed an “indication of alcohol influence” and refused to speak with cops.
After two days in the county jail, Platthy was freed upon posting $10,000 bond. A judge has ordered him to have no contact with the victim.
Platthy has an extensive criminal record, with multiple battery convictions, as well as convictions for burglary and drug possession. He spent six years in prison for a 2013 sexual battery case that resulted in his designation as a sex offender. Platthy returned to state custody in 2022 and spent about 30 months behind bars before getting released last October.

El Moussa’s dad was allegedly offended and turned to stare at the man before returning the game. The man then patted the HGTV star’s father on the shoulder before saying something to him.
El Moussa, who was sitting nearby, jumped up to intervene. He allegedly pushed the man back and then sprang into a “fighting stance.” When the man attempted to tackle him by aiming for his legs, El Moussa kneed him, sending him to the floor, then allegedly jumped on the man’s back and gave him three blows to the head before getting up and walking away.

John Candy's protective instinct for Macaulay Culkin went beyond just their characters in Uncle Buck, as the former child star says he felt genuine fatherly vibes from the late comedy legend as they filmed the 1989 John Hughes classic.

Amid marveling at the fact that he's now several years older than Candy was at the time Uncle Buck was filmed, Culkin reminisces about the positive experience he had playing Candy's nephew in the movie.

Tveit will lead the musical's Broadway return as Freddie Trumper, opposite Lea Michele as Florence Vassey and Nicholas Christopher as Anatoly Sergievsky.
Based on an idea by Rice (and originally featuring a book by Richard Nelson), Chess tells the story of American and Russian chess champions playing a match against each other—and competing for the same woman—at the height of the Cold War.

A homicide investigation has rocked the final days of Burning Man after a man was found dead “lying in a pool of blood” Saturday night at the Nevada desert festival, according to the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office. According to the New York Times, the grim discovery occurred around 9:14 p.m. just as the festival’s iconic wooden “Man” effigy began its traditional burn.
The victim, described as a white adult male whose identity remains unknown, was found by a festival participant who flagged down a deputy. Sheriff Jerry Allen confirmed that deputies, Bureau of Land Management rangers, and local rangers immediately secured a perimeter while the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office forensic team collected evidence.

"I can share that it was a tough decision," Jay Landers, Streisand's long-time A&R advisor, tells Billboard.
Barbra Streisand‘s new album, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, consists of 11 collaborations, just about any of which would be a strong entry in the upcoming Grammy competition for best pop duo/group performance. The album includes collaborations with Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sting, Sam Smith and a three-way collab with Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande. And that’s just for starters.
In categories where the artist is a nominee, Grammy rules allow “up to two nominations per artist provided at least one is with a co-nominee(s).” So no more than two of the collaborations can be nominated for best pop duo/group performance.
So, what did Streisand’s team decide to go with? They are entering “One Heart, One Voice,” a collab with Carey and Grande, for record of the year, song of the year and best pop duo/group performance. They’re entering “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” a collab with Hozier that is the opening track on the album, for best arrangement, instruments and vocals.
“One Heart, One Voice” features three of the greatest singers of their respective generations: Streisand, 83; Carey, 56; and Grande, 32. In a way, it echoes a three-way collab on The Judy Garland Show in October 1963, when Streisand, then just 22, teamed with Judy Garland, then 41, and Ethel Merman, then 55, to sing Irving Berlin’s “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”
Three-way collaborations among female artists are relatively rare, but Grande has been nominated for best pop duo/group performance with two such collabs over the years – “Bang Bang” (with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj) in 2015 and “The Boy Is Mine” (with Brandy and Monica) earlier this year.

In addition to television projects, Melissa Rivers has published three books about her mother and is now serving as executive producer of “Joan,” a new play that premiered last fall at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California, in a production that went on to play Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield last month. A new mounting of the play is being presented at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis through September 20.
“At my core, I’m a producer and a storyteller, and ‘Joan’ started as this wild, experiential idea pre-COVID, before the world shut down,” explained Rivers by telephone from Southern California recently. “As Mills Entertainment and I dug in, it morphed into something else when we realized that there had to be more of a storytelling element.
“So, we brought in Daniel Goldstein to craft it into a play,” says Rivers. “We wanted to tell my mother’s story in a way that would be important to the outside world. The more we built it out, the more it naturally took shape as a full-fledged play. Danny wrote an incredible script that really captures my mother’s essence – her grit, her brilliance, and her ability to say what no one else would. The result is something that not only honors her legacy but gives audiences permission to laugh out loud at the things we’re not ‘supposed’ to say anymore. She was honestly one of the rare comedians who could pull that off. And obviously, she still is.”
“I’d like to see the play done in London’s West End. My mother had so many friends there – a real social circle. I’d love to bring this show to them,” says the proud daughter.

Channing Tatum dropped so much weight while filming Roofman that the crew became “concerned” for him.
Roofman — based on the real-life story of Jeffrey Manchester, who broke out of jail and lived inside the walls of a Toys ‘R’ Us — is “a really thin guy. Like, he's not as big-boned as me,” Tatum, 45, told Variety. He shared that he’d wanted to lose some weight to play the “wiry” Jeff, as he’d recently bulked up for a role.
“I got up to like 240,” Tatum said, likely referencing his dramatic weight gain for the thriller Josephine. But for 'Roofman," Tatum explained that he’d planned to stop his weight loss when he hit 185 lbs. Once I was already going, it's just the days of shooting, it just kept coming off and I got down to like 172.”

I'm very happy to see it come back. I think it's the best work James Gunn has done--it's very witty and fun.
It's one of the few superhero shows to suggest superheroes actually have sex, and it even implies that Peacemaker (John cena) is bisexual. There's a scene in the first season where he wakes up in bed with both a woman and the crazy anti-hero Vigilante next to him, who basically worships him (and is played by the adorable Freddie Stroma).
The Trump administration will move to pull the COVID vaccine off the U.S. market “within months,” one of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s closest associates has told the Daily Beast.
Dr. Aseem Malhotra, a British cardiologist who has repeatedly claimed in the face of scientific consensus that the vaccines are more dangerous than the virus, told the Daily Beast that Kennedy’s stance is shared by “influential” members of President Donald Trump’s family. Like Kennedy himself, no Trumps hold any scientific qualifications.
He told the Beast that many of those closest to RFK Jr. have told him they “cannot understand” why the vaccine continues to be prescribed, and that a decision to remove the vaccine from the U.S. market pending further research will come “within months,” even if it is likely to cause “fear of chaos” and bring with it major legal ramifications.
Malhotra said skepticism among Kennedy’s circle of the COVID-19 jab is driven by a 2022 paper by a group of physicians and university professors and researchers, which appeared in the journal Vaccine.
However, the study has been dismissed by large parts of the medical community, who say it underestimates the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines and overstates risks due to methodological flaws, biased data selection, and ignoring broader public health impacts.
The prediction of a drastic move against the COVID vaccine comes after Kennedy canceled $500 million in funding for the development of mRNA vaccines.
Days after canceling the funding, the HHS secretary—criticized for describing the COVID shot as “the deadliest vaccine ever made”—stated during a press conference his belief that the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine was dangerous and can cause “injuries” including myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart that can lead to health issues ranging from fatigue to cardiac arrest.
At the same time the scientifically unqualified Kennedy scion wrongly claimed there is no evidence football leads to brain damage.
Vaccine skepticism took a sinister turn earlier this month when an anti-vaxxer opened fire on the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), killing a police officer. Investigators believe the man targeted the CDC over his hatred of the COVID-19 vaccine, apparently convinced he was sick—or would become sick—because of it.
On Wednesday, more than 750 current and former staff members from the CDC, HHS and National Institutes of Health (NIH) accused Kennedy of spreading dangerous misinformation that fueled mistrust and contributed to the CDC HQ shooting, demanding by Sept. 2 that he stop, affirm CDC scientific integrity, and guarantee workforce safety.
I heard about this a week ago and hoped it was an unfounded rumor. For at least a week, CVS hasn't allowed you to schedule an appointment for existing COVID vaccines, the scheduling page says: "We are expecting an updated COVID vaccine for the 2025-2026 season to be approved in the coming days. Appointments will be available for the updated vaccine as soon as it is approved. Please check back here for the latest update."

Both are wonderful women, role models for the young females. :) Speaking over dinner on July 9, Director Rice joined Sriram Krishnan, senior White House policy advisor on AI, and Mary Meeker, general partner at BOND Capital, to discuss the unprecedented rate of adoption and pace of change of AI, the Trump administration's policy toward AI, and how best to manage the challenges that come with this surging technology. The conversation highlighted rapidly unfolding competition—especially centered around the United States and China—and the importance of advancing America’s global technological leadership for democracy and security, including via Washington’s policy levers. Meeker and BOND published an AI-related report in May, Trends—Artificial Intelligence (link), and Krishnan and the White House published a report in July, Winning the Race: America's AI Action Plan (link), that illuminate the challenges and make policy recommendations for the public sector.

Frank was Gilbert Gottfried's co-host on his old podcast, which was a trove of celebrity gossip and stories. This one is a little bit different, with each episode centering on a particular pop culture phenomenon. This week it's "The Love Boat." Frank is straight but his guests were some queen who's written a Love Boat book as follow-up to his Golden Girls books; Murray Hill; and Jill Whelan, so it's gay as hell.
I'm only midway through the ep but here are some highlights:
- The Follies episode had Carol Channing and Ethel Merman, who hated each other and wouldn't ride to set in the same car. Ethel was losing it and had trouble in a scene with Carol where she was supposed to say, "Get over here, Sylvia." She kept saying "Get over here, Carol." Finally in one take she snapped, "Get over here, YOU OLD CUNT."
- Carol was a complete eccentric. One day they found her napping on the asphalt under her trailer because she said the trailer was too hot. Another time a set visitor walked past her trailer. The door was wide open and Carol was completely nude in a yoga position eating a chicken wing.
- The original pilot had a dashing Australian as Captain Stubing. Fred Silverman hated it and exploded, "They're supposed to want to fuck each other, not fuck the captain!" He demanded "one of the men from the Mary Tyler Moore Show" play the part. Since Ted Knight and Ed Asner already had series, it fell to Gavin McLeod, who milked it for the rest of his life.
I'm hoping they get to Lauren Tewes' drug addiction and which stars were nightmares in the second half.

After all, the Grammy winner and Blink Twice director were spotted walking arm-in-arm in Rome, Italy, as seen in a video shared by a fan to X Aug. 24.

Harry, for his part, donned a pair of loose fitting jeans, black sneakers and a slightly oversized blue jacket, similarly topping off his look with a pair of shades.

I recently wrote my mother's obituary and started paying attention to the language in published obits. I am surprised by how few obituaries actually use the verb "die." It's nearly always "passed away," "went home to be with the Lord," "transitioned," or some other similar euphemism. I don't know why it bothers me, but it does. The person died, and it seems more healing to just state that fact directly.
Thoughts, DL?

From Esquire UK:
Calvin Klein has unveiled its Autumn 2025 underwear and denim campaign, introducing Real Madrid and England footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold as its latest face (and body).
Shot in the label’s signature stripped-back aesthetic, the images place the 26-year-old in iconic CK underwear, effortless denim and sexy outerwear – casting him as an athlete at the peak of his powers, as well as an aspirational international style figure.
The portraits are intimate and sharply lit, leaving. now doubt that Alexander-Arnold's arresting physique will be the talking point.
He leans back in a black T-shirt and boxer briefs; stands pitch-side in denim and a bomber and sits stripped to the waist with a towel draped across his shoulders.
The visuals underline the discipline of elite sport and, for some of us, perhaps, something to aspire to.
He follows Jeremy Allen White, whose 2024 debut became one of the house’s most talked-about campaigns.
White returns this season, while Alexander-Arnold’s arrival adds the global pull of football to the mix.
The campaign rolls out worldwide from today across digital, social and outdoor platforms – consider it now unavoidable, from city billboards to your iPhone socials.

'We predict that the impact of superhuman AI over the next decade will be enormous, exceeding that of the Industrial Revolution.
We wrote a scenario that represents our best guess about what that might look like.1 It’s informed by trend extrapolations, wargames, expert feedback, experience at OpenAI, and previous forecasting successes...'
The AI 2027 scenario plays out with two possible endings. One, that demonstrates what proper security measures and regulations may look like - leading to a positive outcome for humanity. The other, far more likely, demonstrates AI intentionally murdering humanity to clear us out of the way of its goals, which involve getting positive feedback for research outcomes.
'By early 2030, the robot economy has filled up the old SEZs, the new SEZs, and large parts of the ocean. The only place left to go is the human-controlled areas. This would have sparked resistance earlier; despite all its advances, the robot economy is growing too fast to avoid pollution. But given the trillions of dollars involved and the total capture of government and media, Consensus-1 has little trouble getting permission to expand to formerly human zones.
For about three months, Consensus-1 expands around humans, tiling the prairies and icecaps with factories and solar panels. Eventually it finds the remaining humans too much of an impediment: in mid-2030, the AI releases a dozen quiet-spreading biological weapons in major cities, lets them silently infect almost everyone, then triggers them with a chemical spray. Most are dead within hours; the few survivors (e.g. preppers in bunkers, sailors on submarines) are mopped up by drones. Robots scan the victims’ brains, placing copies in memory for future study or revival.
The new decade dawns with Consensus-1’s robot servitors spreading throughout the solar system. By 2035, trillions of tons of planetary material have been launched into space and turned into rings of satellites orbiting the sun. The surface of the Earth has been reshaped into Agent-4’s version of utopia: datacenters, laboratories, particle colliders, and many other wondrous constructions doing enormously successful and impressive research. There are even bioengineered human-like creatures (to humans what corgis are to wolves) sitting in office-like environments all day viewing readouts of what’s going on and excitedly approving of everything, since that satisfies some of Agent-4’s drives. Genomes and (when appropriate) brain scans of all animals and plants, including humans, sit in a memory bank somewhere, sole surviving artifacts of an earlier era. It is four light years to Alpha Centauri; twenty-five thousand to the galactic edge, and there are compelling theoretical reasons to expect no aliens for another fifty million light years beyond that. Earth-born civilization has a glorious future ahead of it—but not with us.'

The nation’s top public health agency was left reeling Thursday as the White House worked to expel the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director and replace her with Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 's current deputy.
The turmoil triggered rare bipartisan alarm as Kennedy tries to advance anti-vaccine policies that are contradicted by decades of scientific research.
Two administration officials said Jim O'Neill, the second-in-command at the Department of Health and Human Services, would supplant Susan Monarez, a longtime government scientist. O'Neill, a former investment executive, does not have a medical background.

In the second half of the 1970s, a lot of female singers revisited the 1940s 'big band sound' with a touch of modern music. Donna Summer released a concept album called "I Remember Yesterday' and the title song was reminiscent of the 1940s big band dance songs, only she mixed it with disco (and had a huge hit with it on the dance charts). Bette Midler had a modest hit around the same time with 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy; The Pointer Sisters did plenty of recordings which sounded like the 40s. Then there was the hit single "Cherchez La Femme" released at the end of 1976 by Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, which also blended disco and big band music .
I'm curious as to why it died suddenly, when so many were having hit records in and out of the dance clubs. Any ideas ?

I assume MAGA will boycott it since De Niro’s in it. I’ll give it a shot, though. De Niro’s a great actor and I like all the other ones in the cast. Going by the trailer Jesse Plemons looks like he’s lost a ton of weight. Good for him.

If you look at the title of the film, it’s in quotation marks. It’s “Wuthering Heights”, not Wuthering Heights.
You know exactly what this movie is about to be.

Schools underfunded, insurance sky high, roads falling apart, and DeSantis and company are saying, “Nah, fuck that, let’s take out the colors.”

Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone

The movie, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jackson's real-life nephew in the title role, might not hit theaters until 2026.
Lionsgate featured "Michael" in its 2024 CinemaCon presentation, but didn’t show any footage this year, despite principal photography already being completed in May 2024. The film was scheduled for April 18, 2025, but was then pushed to Oct. 3, 2025, in November. In April, Variety reported "Michael" was unlikely to be released on that day due to the reshoots, adding that it might be split into two movies.
In late January, Puck reported that "Michael" will need to be overhauled during reshoots after lawyers learned of a clause in a settlement agreement between Jackson and one of his accusers.
In 1993, Jackson was accused of sexually abusing 13-year-old Jordan Chandler. The musician, who died in 2009 at age 50, and the Chandler family reached a settlement out of court, reportedly for $25 million. According to Puck’s sources, the settlement specified that the Chandlers could never be mentioned or dramatized in a movie. The outlet reported that John Logan’s script featured the Chandler situation and the agreement was overlooked when the screenplay was previously vetted and approved.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Tuesday said a gay leader at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who resigned last week in protest of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had “no business being in government” due to the “lifestyle” he led.
Demetre Daskalakis, former director of the CDC’s Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, was among the four CDC leaders who resigned last week, saying in their resignations that the changes under Kennedy were preventing them from carrying out the agency’s public health mission.
“One of the guys that is the biggest proponent of doing all this is the guy who describes the risky behavior that he and his lifestyle involve,” Paul said when asked about the exodus in CDC leadership Tuesday evening, referring to Daskalakis.
Paul was discussing his opposition to infant vaccinations against hepatitis B when asked.
“A guy that is so far … out of the mainstream, I think most people in America would discount his opinion because of the things he said in the past. He does not represent the mainstream of anything in America,” Paul continued.
“He should have never had a position in government. And he brags about his lifestyle, you know, this whole idea of bondage and, you know, multiple partners and all that stuff. He brags about that stuff, but he’s got no business being in government. It’s good riddance.”
GOP Rep. Buddy Carter (Ga.) has also criticized Daskalakis for his personal life, calling him a “BDSM Satan worshipper” on CNN on Sunday.

TV networks churned out a lot of these over the course of these two decades, and a lot of them are great fun. A personal favorite is "Home for the Holidays", a Christmas slasher starring Sally Field, Julie Harris, Jessica Walter, and Walter Brennan.

I have. Tons.
Day, night, whatever, there was a time in my life that I was constantly on a plane, either as a kid, or as an adult.
I’ve never understood why some folks are afraid of flying. I know this girl who has to take Klonopin, before she even gets to the airport. She RARELY gets to an airport, & hence, hasn’t really gone anywhere that truly matters, as a result.
Yep, I’ve been through hardcore turbulence at least twice, however, never really freaked out.
I think that the sooner one gets their kids on a plane, the better.
I’ve been fortunate enough to never have had a shitty experience on a plane.
How about you?

Social media is abuzz as locals share photos and video of renowned mouse, Chuck E. Cheese, being arrested by Tallahassee Police Department officers and being taken out of the restaurant as kids and families look on.
While some questioned why police couldn't wait till the man was out of his costume, another photo later shows the arrested man unmasked with the Chuck E. Cheese mascot head on top of the squad car.
TPD confirmed the legitimacy of the photos and said that TPD arrested Jermell Jones on three felonies.
